Houston Dynamo v. Real Salt Lake (2009)
by Austin Elam
On June 16th, the BCSO drove up to Robertson Stadium to watch the Houston Dynamo take on Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer action.
A group ten strong cheered as the Dynamo battled during the first half, but, though they had several good opportunities, they were unable to put one in the back of the net. Following a short half-time break, which allowed us to get more beer and nachos, the teams returned to the pitch for a second half that was filled with action and grief. The opposing team, Real Salt Lake, scored to take the lead 1-0. In the middle of the second half, the Dynamo were awarded a penalty kick for a foul in the box, and an equalizing goal seemed eminent. Surprisingly, our player flubbed the kick and it was saved by the opposing goal keeper. Our best chance to tie it up was lost. Then, in the ninetieth minute, our star forward, Brian Ching, scored an amazing header ! Everyone in the stands was going wild.
After the game ended, there were cheers and fireworks. Everyone had a great time, and we'll definitely be back for another game next season.
