The BCSO Officers
The BCSO Officers are chosen in yearly election by the BCSO members. The current officer positions are chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer. The BCSO also elects subcommittees for further development of other aspects of the organization.
Christof Straub, BCSO Chair
Christof received his undergraduate degree in Business & Chemistry from Southwestern University and joined BMB in 2008.
Christof currently works in Dr. Alexander Kurosky's laboratory.
Michal Szymanski, BCSO Vice Chair
Michal graduated from University of Houston, TX, with Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Biophysics. Michal joined UTMB in 2007 under the Molecular Biophysics Educational Track (MBET). Michal works in Dr. Wlodek Bujalowski's laboratory.
Sarah Hemauer, BCSO Treasurer
Sarah received her undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin - Madison in Biology with honors in Research. She is a MD/PhD student at UTMB and joined BMB in 2007. Sarah currently works in Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed's laboratory.
Paige Sanders, BCSO Secretary
Dr. Kay Choi, Faculty Advisor
Dr. Choi is currently the faculty advisor of the Biological Chemistry Student Organization (BCSO).
She has been of great help not only as an advisor, but also as our advocate among faculty.
Over the past few years, she has been actively involved in the BMB program orientation for first year students and other student-related activities.
