The BCSO Officers

The BCSO Officers are chosen in yearly election by the BCSO members. The current officer positions are chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer. The BCSO also elects subcommittees for further development of other aspects of the organization.

Austin Elam, BCSO Chair

Austin Elam, Chair Austin graduated from Rice University and joined the Biophysical Structural and Computational Biology Program in 2005. His research focuses on the the effects of osmolytes on normal and abnormal functions of the tau protein.

 

Paul Evans, BCSO Vice Chair

Paul Evans, Vice Chair Paul is an M.D./PhD student in the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BMB) program. He did his undergraduate work at UT Austin and joined BMB in 2004. Paul currently works in Dr. Chunming Liu's laboratory.

 

Vincent Dimayuga, BCSO Treasurer

Vincent Dimayuga, Treasurer Vincent received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Southwest Texas State University (aka Texas State University in San Marcos) in 2003. After completing an Army deployment in Iraq, he joined the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology program in 2007. Presently, he is working in Dr. John Papaconstantinou's Lab studying post-translational modifications to proteins during aging.

 

Keerthi Gottipati, BCSO Secretary

Keerthi Gottipati, Secretary Keerthi received her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Biotechnology from Anna University, India. She is a third year BMB graduate student presently working in Dr. James C Lee's lab.

 

Dr. Stanley Watowich, Faculty Advisor

Stan, Advisor Dr. Watowich is currently the faculty advisor of the Biological Chemistry Student Organization (BCSO). He has been of great help not only as an advisor, but also as our advocate among faculty. Over the past few years, he has been actively involved in the BMB program orientation for first year students and other student-related activities.
