The Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) Graduate Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston offers intellectual training to help you explore new concepts in biology, develop novel therapeutic strategies and push
the limits of modern biological technologies. Our curriculum provides training in cutting edge technology, critical thinking, and verbal and written communication skills, preparing graduates to be fully competitive for positions within various career
paths.
We currently have 36 students pursuing doctoral degrees in our program and >70 graduate faculty members. Research projects in our program are diverse and address a variety of biomedical problems, including aging, cancer, infectious disease, toxicology,
trauma, and wound healing. Multi-disciplinary approaches combine research tools from biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, systems and structural biology, and our laboratories are equipped with some of the most modern instrumentation in these

The BCMB program offers 3 tracks: Structural Biology and Biophysics (SBB), Cell Biology Track, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Track.
Structural Biology and Biophysics (SBB): The SBB track is designed to produce well-rounded researchers who can apply cutting-edge approaches of structural biology and biophysics to important biomedical problems. This track also covers computational biology. Structural Biology and Biophysics (SBB)
Cell Biology Track: This track offers projects which focus on molecular, cellular, and whole-animal systems related to human diseases, development and aging. It also offers training in single cell and single molecule imaging using state
